Update [July 15 2009] : Vodafone has added the Samsung NC10 Netbook to their mobile broadband and free laptop packages. The netbook will have the Vodafone mobile broadband SIM card included in it for accessing the internet anywhere, anytime. Hence you will not require an additional plug-in device. Speeds of up to 7.2Mbps is promised. The laptop with built in Vodafone mobile broadband is available for a £25 per month for 1GB mobile broadband usage; and £30 per month for 3GB mobile broadband usage. Ferrari 1200 Launched in the UK by Acer with Turion Ultra
Acer launched Ferrari 1200 Notebook on thursday in the UK to update its Ferrari Notebooks series. This ultraportable notebook works on a new AMD Turion Ultra X2 CPU, and keeps Ferrari’s carbon fibre, apart from featuring a 12” display. The shell is very much FM-themed and the display will be backlit by LED. This notebook from Acer would also get a fresher mainboard platform highlighted by quicker Mobility Radeon video. The processor also enjoys the back-up of a DDR2 memory of 4GB in higher-end trim.
A detailed specification table or any charming offer for this notebook PC is not available at present. However, this device from Acer definitely packs an in-built webcam, apart from bundling a VoIP phone that works based on Bluetooth. This phone can be used for making calls through Skype or other providers of Intenet calling service.
This laptop PC, though had its preliminary launch in the UK, is expected to spread to the other parts of the world in the near future.

Being a writer, the main thing that I look for in a laptop, apart from performance is ease of typing.
I’m able to type quite comfortably, the keys of the QWERTY keyboard are well spaced and I could type fast enough to match the flow of words from my head! Last evening, I wrote a very good chapter and I attribute it to the Asus N10, for it kept up to my pace and didn’t slow me one bit. I could store quite a lot, thanks to the 2GB of RAM. Also, my Asus N10 Ultraportable Laptop works on a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU and has a hard drive of 250GB. It has Wi-Fi connectivity, an NVIDIA’s GeForce 9300M GS for graphics and a fingerprint reader. Oh, here comes Maria. “Hey, Good morning Maria!”

“And Bluetooth?” “The N10 has Bluetooth connectivity too.” said Bridgette with a smile. The ladies then walked to a near-by cafe and ordered Blueberry muffins and tea. Bridgette, who was talking on about her novel’s plot said, “Hey Maria, I just love the fingerprint reader of my N10. Look, I’ll show you. All I have to do is swipe my finger across the reader to get authenticated. And the webcam is interesting too. It can also authenticate my login as it is linked to a face-recognition software. Isn’t that interesting?”
Maria agreed and said, “Thats a cool feature. How long does the battery last, Brig?” “Well, it’s almost two hours since I charged it. It’ll run for another forty-five minutes.” “Thats quite impressive!” said Maria. After the snack, Maria dropped off Bridgette at her place to continue her writing. “Hey good luck on your novel Brig. And, please, don’t include me as a character okay?” she added with a chuckle. “And I love your Asus N10 Laptop. Its affordable and power-packed.” saying this, she left the writer to play with her imagination.
HP Mini 2140 Netbook
The HP Mini 2140 10.1 Inch Netbook from HP’s 2100 series is claimed to suit the needs of business users. The netbook runs on a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor and weighs about 1.2kg. The user can choose either a solid-state of 80GB or a hard disk drive of 160GB. It also has optional Bluetooth 2.0, an HP USB optical drive, decent HP Mobile Audio Speakers powered by USB and a keyboard that is 92 percent of a regular QWERTY keyboard that is wide and comfortable to use. The keyboard is spill-resistant and the mouse is easy to handle due to the rubberised mouse buttons.
