This laptop is a waste of money I would not recommend it to anyone. The battery is supposed to last 2 hours but it only lasts less then 10 minutes so it can only be used on charge and also the screen starts to crack if you tilt it slightly and it also over heats.

The laptop doesnt have any good features on it, you have to spend another £100+ to get microsoft office.
Don buy this I recommend a Dell laptop instead much better than an Acer.

I have had this laptop for three years now and have had no problems with it. Being a masters degree student it has taken some heavy use and not so gentle handling and survived. Great value!

  4. Reza says:

I agree with Abdul who posted on July 15th, the laptop is a waste of money. The battery at the beginning lasted 30-40 minutes instead of 2 hours and after a few months the battery could only last 10-15 minutes which made it worthless.

Also if you open and close your laptop couple of times a day after a year it will begin to crack and eventually the crack will become so big that you can not close the laptop without casing damage to the screen.

The video graphics are also horrible and most games freeze on this laptop.

    DO NOT BUY ACER!

  5. Martin says:

it is rubish battery last bout 20 mins . i have had to get a new screen has the original craked from open and closening worst lap top ever

  6. Karl says:

This laptop is good ive had mine for 3 years and the only thing gone wrong is the hinges broke which was my own fault its great value for the money.

  7. Josh says:

worst laptop eva. the battery last about 10minutes and it takes about 15 minutes to start-up
    waste of money.

    don’t buy ACER

  8. Joe says:

I gotta say that this laptop is the biggest pile of $%!@ i have ever bought. Typical crumby product that falls apart as soon as the manufacturers warranty is up. Battery wont keep the computer on for two seconds when you unplug it. The screen cracked corner to corner and is leaking the black lsd liquid behind the screen shield, the cd drive practically fell out of it. Will never buy another acer product for the rest of my life.

I have had my Aspire 3610 for nearly 4 years now. It has travelled the world in my backpack and that includes a 30 day camping safari across Africa. The battery lasts about 1 hour but I almost never use that mode. I have upgraded the RAM to 2Gb but that is all I have done. There is a scratch line across the screen from travelling in the backpack. My fault, I forgot to put a protection cloth across the keyboard and as the laptop was up against my back it did bend and the soft screen rubbed against the keys. I also shoot weddings and bring this laptop with me to edit and make DVD’s and instant prints for guests. What more can you ask of a Celeron processor? Acer is OK in my books.

My acer laptop (aspire 3610) is rubbish. The battery life is terrible, also the top of the screen has cracked from side to side and also it has broken completley because the charger has broken and no charger will work in it so i can’t use it again.

  11. David says:

Had mine over 3 years without any problems …………………. except that is the battery life !!!!! Was OK at first, but quickly deteriorated to lasting only a few minutes. Bought a new one 6 months ago, and this was fine at first, with well over 3 hours of life. However, that too has now deteriorated to the extent that 25 minutes is the best it will do.

i got one it came with xp i reformat it and install a full crack version of windows vista ultimate and it is awesome and now it take less than 10 sec to start up…

  13. simon aka (computer wizz) says:

the acer laptop is ok the music and pictures are good them battery life is not so good i timed it to around 1 hour 17 minutes. my acer laptop has never moved of my desk but the hinges in my opinion are to strong for the plasic covering and have broken at one sides and is cracing at th other. i would not recommend an acer laptop or a dell laptop as dell laptops if broken or there is internal damage e.g.(motherboard) they cost alot of money. if i was going to recommend a make of laptop (SONY) would be the one they are fast reliable and cost effective there are good programs installed with different packages

    thankyou for reading

I purchased my acer 3610 from my brother who bought it new 2years ago ,I have owned it for just over 4 months ,and have never used it on battery mode I always have it plugged in,and except for it freezing up only once find it a great lap top to learn on.

  15. James says:

Awful, bought it in Jan 06 three years later and its trashed… I’m on it now. It extremly slow the battery lasts 10 minutes now. The left click of the mouse thing is broken, I now have to tap the touch screen bit to click.
The screen also has a crack on the hinge, I now have to keep it on a desk to avoid the crack spreading so can’t use it as a laptop!
I’ve had to had it totally reset twice!
I chose this one over others because of it’s large screen, wish I hadnt!
The one good feature is it’s keyboard, which is fairly easy to type with however if you wish to type anything u will have to spend ?100 to buy microsoft office!
So the only thing I use it for is msn (the one thing that works fine) and surfing the web (Which can be painful!)
    I now can’t afford to get a different one…
    SO AVOID PLEASE!!!!(FOR YOUR SAKE!)

  16. perry says:

well i bought one used for 40 pounds wich was really cheap, and it works great i have no problems with it
i upgraded the ram with 2 gb and it works fine i think some people have just been unlucky with the laptops they have bought.

I got this laptop nearly three years ago and in that time I have had to send it to be fixed four times as it used to die on me every couple of months or so. Came back great and then eventually died again.

The battery, as many have said, is not that great. I only got a proper two-hour use out of it about twice before it started to degenerate. Now it will only last around seven minutes. I’ve taken it out because even if I had it plugged in, for some reason it kept relying on the fading battery instead of the actual power from the socket.

I’ve not had the screen crack- but the part near the power button came off and cost me £100 (I kid not) to get fixed. One of the hinges also broke from just closing it.

The CD/DVD drive kept falling out of it and I was able to pull it out without any effort. It also keeps opening for no reason, and then when I close it, it opens again seconds later.

Having said that, now it seems to be working fairly well. Decent speed, although I’ve not tried with any games yet. However, when you first turn it on from being on hibernation or simply turned off, it does take a while to load everything up now. I think I can still get a good year or so out of it, though.

  19. Aki says:

Girlfriend’s acer is 4 years now. It was really slow, but I sped it up :) It was free. Go to control panel, system, advanced, settings and virtual memory. Free some space or buy another hard drive, that took 5mins away from starting up. Another way is to buy more RAM, better but more expensive..

  20. Harry says:

had laptop for four years now and memory is full and it is still running fine, however, start up has got slower but this is probably expected….disk drive does like to eject itself sometimes and battery is now shocking….used to be about 1:30 hours and now lasts about 20 mins (even though whenever you unplug it the battery says none left so constant saving of documents are essential) The plastic on the screen hinges have split on one side and is slowly happening on other side from opening and closing…..only keys that are a problem are the ones below the touch pad…have to be used rather firmly now. however everything still works it has to be said including the screen, have to shut it down completely though as hibernation or standby slows it down LOADS….albeit things getting slower. Have had to reboot it twice (luckily is has a good backup system, just make sure to back it up regularly as it gets older. I do have to say though….the new windows 7 which boasts split screen technology is rubbish compared to the acer grid vista which can split it to four separate screens LOL! not much but hey!…oh and speakers are awful and no good word processing programs pre installed…..probably expected for a cheaper laptop but still……..DONT GET A DELL….my sisters is constantly on a life support machine in the repair shop and always cost more to repair for some reason…hers was cheaper in the first place but after repairs not cheaper any more !
