Technological innovations have always maintained the pace and direction to cope up with the demands of modern consumers. Take the case of consumer electronics. In the past decades innumerable devices and methodologies have been invented and introduced for consumption, offering convenient and cheaper alternatives to the existing ones. From the bulky desktop to the compact laptop, it was a remarkable expedition for the consumer, thanks to the enterprising innovators.
In this context, development of Bluetooth technology is a significant milestone. This wireless protocol is widely used for data transfer between fixed and mobile devices creating what is known as personal area networks. Several devices can be connected, provided they are Bluetooth enabled. Flexibility of the Bluetooth technology is a core advantage that made it popular in the communication segment. Adaptability without hassles of synchronization is a positive factor that prompted the innovators to utilize Bluetooth technology to laptops and similar devices.
Incorporation of Bluetooth technology to laptops is to enhance the ability to speed up response as well as to reduce power consumption. In 2007, Bluetooth core specification version 2.1 was accorded recognition by the special interest group as a new standard. The new V2.1+ EDR standard could offer enhanced data rate to the enabled device. The connectivity of pairing devices is now easier and faster. Enhanced security is yet another advantage. Energy efficiency of the Bluetooth enabled devices will contribute to cost advantage since the batteries will have extended life spans.
Bluetooth V2.1 is adapted in devices which require connectivity in short ranges. The new technology help mobile devices like laptops to exchange information with other devices expeditiously even in areas where broadband is not available. No wonder, the demands for Bluetooth enabled devices are on the increase. According to some estimates there are more than one billion devices in use today and the new standard has great relevance in the contemporary scenario. Probably the first Bluetooth enabled mobile phone was introduced by Sony Ericsson followed by many other leading manufacturers. From mobile phone the technology has moved to other devices like laptops, MP3 players, Headsets etc. The consumers welcomed the new innovation for convenience it offered while using mobile devices. Wireless protocol is able to connect several devices within a limited range of 40 feet.
At a time when the use of laptops has become widespread due to the convenience of mobility, demands for Bluetooth enabled products will increase by leaps and bounds. The Bluetooth enabled laptops will help to revive the market demands of the products when the consumer preference is shifting towards Net books instead of laptops. This is yet another example of innovative technologies determining the market destiny of many products and services in a competitive environment.
