Just when everyone was expecting that the Android OS might undergo a few tweaks here and there to feature on netbooks, the search-engine company drops this surprise bomb of a new OS. About nine months back, they had launched the Google Chrome browser. This was freely made available on the internet as well. The Microsoft competitor says that the new Chrome OS, focuses on making web browsing much more simpler and easier. They also ensure that it would provide better security, faster speeds and simple usage.

Which devices can use Google Chrome OS?
Currently the new OS is targeted at netbooks. The company however, has plans of moving the OS to desktop PCs as well, at a later stage.

What’s new about Google Chrome Operating System?
Currently, the most striking difference between Google Chrome OS and Microsoft Windows operating system is that the former is open source. Hence developers from all over the world can contribute in making modifications and enhancements after the code is out. The new operating system is also expected to be faster, booting up in just a few seconds. Google claim that they have re-designed the security architecture so that viruses, malware and security updates do not bother users. The Chrome OS is built on a Linux kernel and is compatible with x86 and ARM chips as well.

When will Google Chrome OS be available?
Google expect that the new OS will be available from the latter half of 2010.

Which netbooks will feature Google Chrome OS?
Google have been talking to popular netbook vendors regarding their new project. The most probable netbooks that would sport the Google Chrome OS are HP, Lenovo, Asus, Acer and Toshiba.

Chrome and Android…
Android and Chrome have many similar characteristics. However, Google say that both OSs focus on different aspects. Android had been designed to work with devices like the mobile phone, set-top boxes and even netbooks. Chrome will work with netbooks and later on move into laptops and desktop PCs as well. Moreover, Chrome has been designed for providing a better web browsing experience.

What can one expect from Google Chrome OS?
Google Chrome OS targets at making netbook operations faster. Since it is open source, new applications can be developed by anybody for integration with the OS. Perhaps the prices of Chrome netbooks will be cheaper than Windows netbooks, as one will not have to pay additional tax like the Microsoft tax. Another aspect that Google claim is the quick compatibility that this new OS offers with other hardware.

    Chrome all the way. Although I haven't used lynix or how you spell it I can honestly say chrome is the best I used? PC and Mac I say chrome is the best, it's run by the top search engine on the Internet, it's so much faster than what I used, so I think it's the best
