The Sagemcom Spiga PocketBook is supposed to be the world’s smallest mobile PC. It sports a 4.8-inch touchscreen with a 1024 × 768-pixel resolution. The stylus that ships with the gadget can be used to work on it. A full QWERTY keyboard is also present for user interaction. There is no trackpad or mouse buttons. This does seems like a drawback. However, the USP of this mini netbook is its compatibility with 3.5G networks, giving you speedy internet access and other facilities like VoIP.
Why this device is still categorized as a member of the laptop family and not the mobile phone family is because of the Intel Atom processor (Silverthorne Z510 with a clock speed of 1.1GHz) and Windows XP OS it employs. WiFi is supported. Bluetooth compliance is offered as well. An 8GB SSD lets you store your data. If this seems insufficient, then a memory card slot for SD and SDHC is also present. A mini-USB port for information exchange with other devices is available too. A 1.3 Megapixel web camera has been built in as well. Even a microphone and a speaker are integrated within.
The Sagemcom Spiga PocketBook Touchscreen UMPC measures 158mm × 94.1mm × 18.6mm and weighs just 315g. The mini laptop costs about €500. This gadget might most probably be available with mobile network operators for lower priced deals and offers in the near future.
