The Asus EEE PC 1005PE Netbook is Asus’ offering with the Intel Pine Trail platform. It comes loaded with the Intel Atom N450 1.66GHz processor. The most significant enhancement brought about by the Pine Trail processors is the battery life. Performance-wise, nothing much has changed. The Asus EEE PC 1005PE is said to last the whole day between recharges. The battery quoted is 14 hours.
The other specifications of this mini laptop are something you’d expect in any netbook. It is a 10.3″ screen device which has a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. There is a 1GB RAM, which can be upgraded to a maximum of 2GB. A 250GB hard drive is housed in this netbook. The Windows 7 Starter Edition comes pre-installed.
This netbook is WiFi compliant. It also supports Ethernet connectivity for accessing the internet. Bluetooth capability is offered too. The connectors on-board include 3 USB 2.0 ports, a VGA output and the audio jacks. There are integrated stereo speakers and a 0.3MP web-camera in this device too. A multi-format card reader is as well present in this netbook.
The price of this netbook in the US market is about $368 (~ GBP 228).
