Asus EEE PC Snapdragon Smartbook

Asus EEE PC Snapdragon Smartbook is the latest mobile PC in the ultra-portable spotlight. It features the 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, which has an ARM processor architecture. The specialty of this processor is that it neither requires a fan nor a heatsink to cool off. Hence the power consumption of this device will be much less compared to those that have more powerful Intel processors. Thus longer battery life can be achieved. This smartbook is expected to deliver a life of 8-10 hours. Moreover, the absence of the fan/heatsink, makes this device slim and stylish looking. Owing to its light weight as well, this new EEE PC scores tremendously on the portability front. The Snapdragon chip, supports 720p playback, GPS, 3G networking and more.

Another interesting aspect is the operating system this mini netbook comes with – Google’s Android Cupcake v1.5 OS. WiFi and wired Ethernet connections are available for internet connectivity. Bluetooth compatibility is offered as well. The ports present on-board include 2 USB 2.0 ports, a Kensington lock, a headphone output, a microphone socket, a VGA output and an Ethernet connector.

This light, compact and slim workstation has a full QWERTY keyboard, with well laid keys. A trackpad with a single mouse button is as well present. It has till now been seen in a white glossy case. No information is available yet, if any other coloured cases will be released. Pricing and  availability is not known too as of now. However, the Asus Snapdragon EEE PC Smartbook is expected to hit the market by the end of this year.
