Asus N20 12″ Netbook was demoed by the company during CES 2009 (Consumer Electronic Show). The internal processing of this notebook is handled by the Intel Core 2 Duo processor (either T9400, T5850, P8600 or P7350), which clocks at 2.0GHz. The Mobile Intel GM45 Express Chipset is also housed in this mobile PC. The operating system that is compatible with this device is the Genuine Windows Vista Home or Business OS, as the need may be. A 4GB DDR2 800MHz RAM is present along with a SATA hard drive, which can be either of 250GB or 320GB capacities. A super-multi Blu-ray DVD combo drive is also built into this Asus laptop. This compact netbook features a 12.1″ screen which offers a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. Another striking feature of this screen is that it is touch responsive. A stylus or even finger tips, can be used to work on the screen. The AI Touch Media software, which is an Asus native utility, has been pre-installed in this notebook too. It allows easy access to media files with the finger tips.
Networking wise, this laptop is expected to support WiFi connectivity. Bluetooth version 2.0 with EDR is supposedly supported as well. 3G/3.5G networking technology will be compatible too, allowing high internet access speeds. The other connections and interfaces that may be supported are as follows:-
- An 8-in-1 card reader for SD, MMC, MS, MS-Pro, mini SD, MS-Duo, MS-Pro Duo etc
- An ExpressCard slot
- 3 USB ports
- A HDMI link
- A VGA connection
- Headphone and microphone jacks
A 1.3 Megapixel web camera has been integrated into this portable computer as well. A 3-cell battery has been employed for power supply, and it seems to give a reasonable life to this portable PC. This unit measures 303mm in length, 225mm in width and 31mm in thickness. It weighs 1.8kg. With a black glossy lid, the Asus N20 1.3 MP Camera Netbook, surely does look attractive. This notebook is expected to carry an attractive low price as well.
