Dell Adamo XPS Laptop – The Thinnest Laptop Ever
November 13, 2009
The Dell Adamo XPS Laptop has been sculpted so as to drive the Apple MacBook Air to the gym. Labelled as the thinnest laptop known till now, the Dell Adamo XPS is just 9.9mm thick. This ultraslim notebook has managed to bag in a decent set of specifications, all packed in a jaw-droppingly attractive case. However, there’s room for complaints as the battery life is poor and the price touches the sky.
The laptop sports a unique design. You need to rub your finger over a heat sensor, which lets the laptop open out on its own. The battery forms a stand at the back, making the aluminium keyboard tilt on to the user’s lap. How ergonomic this structure will be, is yet to be seen!
The 13.4-inch, 1366 x 768 pixels screen of this notebook can handle high definition content. Other specifications include an Intel Core 2 Duo 1.4GHz ULV processor, a 4GB DDR3 RAM, a 128GB solid state drive and Windows 7 OS. Despite its slender construction, it manages to house 2 USB ports, a mini Display port and a headphone socket. WiFi and Bluetooth are supported. Ethernet connectivity can be achieved using a dongle.
This laptop offers a stunted battery life of about 2.5 hours. Using a more powerful battery can extend the life up to 5 hours. On the weight front, the Apple MacBook Air still takes the lead, as the Adamo XPS weighs about 1.44kg. The Dell Adamo XPS Ultraslim Notebook will be priced at about $1,799 (~£1000) in the US. It might hit stores right in time for Christmas. However, there has been no information regarding a UK release.
