Gateway EC14D Notebook

The Gateway EC14D Notebook is a special little laptop, as it is one of the few of its kind, to have a DVD drive built in. This notebook sports an 11.6″ screen, which makes it an ultra-portable.
A high definition resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels is offered. The Intel Pentium dual core ULV processor with a frequency of 1.4GHz has been employed for handling processing. Graphics is taken care of by the Intel GMA 4500HD GPU. The RAM housed within is a 4GB one, which can be enhanced to 8GB for better performance. A 320GB hard drive comes built within. The Windows 7 OS drives this notebook.
WiFi and wired Ethernet connectivity are both supported for hooking onto the internet. There are also 3 USB ports, an HDMI port, a web camera and a multi-format media card reader packed in this workstation. A 6-cell battery is supposed to be shipping in this device and is reckoned to offer 8 hours of runtime. The price of this device for the US market is $629, which is quite a reasonable one. A UK release hasn’t been heard of yet.
The Gateway EC14D 11.6″ Netbook was on display at this year’s CES, held in Las Vegas recently. Scott Stein from Cnet has pointed out to a very interesting fact in his article on this notebook. Though a sleek laptop does look very attractive, people still put value before aesthetics. Hence a laptop with an integrated DVD drive is what people would prefer buying even if it is a little bulkier than a slim laptop which lacks it.

If you’re looking for a laptop with a long battery life, a larger screen than netbooks, a decent performance and an affordable price, then Gateway EC5409u Notebook can have your attention. Hard core gamers might not actually appreciate this machine as it does not have the power-packed features for demanding games and applications. Lighter tasks like internet surfing, checking mails, downloading/uploading of files, watching videos, listening to music, go well with this laptop.
Coming to the specifications of the Gateway EC54 – this Windows 7 OS based laptop features a 15.6” LED backlit display with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. The Intel Pentium SU4100 1.3GHz CULV processor powers up this unit internally. This CULV processor explains the long battery life. A 4GB DDR3 RAM and a 320GB hard drive are integrated within. While WiFi and wired Gigabit LAN connectivity are supported by this device, Bluetooth is optionally offered. The rest of the interfacing options are standard with 3 USB ports, an HDMI output, a headphone jack, a microphone jack and a multi-format card reader. A DVD drive is also built-in.
The 6-cell battery housed in the Gateway EC5409u 15.6” Laptop can provide enough fuel to last about 8 hours. The price of this notebook in the US market is $649.99.

Gateway NO50 Laptop

Gateway NO50 Laptop is an ‘external looks are deceptive’ kind of a laptop. It looks pretty plain on the outside, but packs in an impressive feature-set.
Speedy processing in this laptop is a joint effort from the Intel T9550 2.66GHz processor and the 4GB RAM. If you are an ardent gamer, you can opt for the powerful ATI Mobility HD 3470 graphics processor. Else, for regular mobile computations, you can stick with the Intel GMA 4500HD GPU. A 250GB hard drive is also packed in this device. A DVD drive is as well fitted in. Microsoft Windows Vista Business comes pre-loaded.
This laptop sports a 15.4” TFT LCD LED backlit display, with a HD resolution of 1680 x 1050 pixels. Interfacing aspects include 4 USB ports, a VGA output, a DVI port, an HDMI port, an ExpressCard slot, a PC card slot, a multi-format card reader, headphone output, microphone input and an Ethernet connector are available in this laptop. You can log onto the internet either using WiFi or the Ethernet connection. Even Bluetooth capability is offered. A web camera is housed in this machine too.
The Gateway NO50 15” Laptop has a magnesium case and is more of desktop replacement kind of laptop. It can meet your multimedia and gaming requirements. You can as well use it for business purposes, although it is not very portable at 3.1kg. This weight is explained by the presence of a 9-cell battery in this workstation, which gives a life of about 4 hours. Just like its weight, it carries a heavy price tag too, of £1199.
Gateway TC7804U Netbook

Light, compact and thin, Gateway TC7804U 14″ Netbook has been designed for high speed mobile computing. This netbook has been equipped with the Intel Core 2 Duo T6400 processor which has a clock speed of 2.0GHz. The Intel GMA 4500M graphics card has also been employed for handling display and graphics. The memory dedicated to graphics is 1.8GB. A 4GB RAM is present along with a SATA hard drive, having a capacity of 320GB and a speed of 5400rpm. An optical DVD read/write drive is featured as well. The operating system that this mobile computer ships with is the Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium edition. This laptop has a 14 inch LCD monitor, which offers a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels.
For internet connectivity, WiFi with standard 802.11a/g/draft-n is supported. Wired networking is supported too. Bluetooth 2.0 capability is offered as well. The other ports and connections that are present on board are as follows:-
