Alienware M17X Laptop

Warning : Before you read this piece of article, a word of caution for those weak hearts, who cannot take surprises and too much of good news! The Dell Alienware M17X Laptop is a powerful device with breath-taking specifications and jaw dropping features. Hence, please take deep breaths and then plunge further.
Majestic, humongous, yet attractive, Alienware M17X Laptop has got it all right on the looks front. The royal black with the crimson lighting around the keys, trackpad and lower edge, definitely make this hulk look unique. The lighting zone might even be capable of emitting other colour lights.
This laptop is mighty from the inside as well. The Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 2.4GHz processor has been employed for handling internal operations. There is an option to upgrade this to a quad core processor too. Boosting up the processing speed is a supreme 8GB DDR3 RAM. The hard drive capacity is a walloping 1TB. One terabyte is equivalent to 1024GB! (Hope you are still deep breathing!) You could even opt for a 512GB Solid State Drive instead. A Blu Ray optical drive is housed in this beast as well.
All you gaming enthusiasts might have their hearts racing and craving for more details. A 17-inch LCD widescreen monitor with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels is featured. Clear, crisp and detailed displays are hence a surety. For graphics, dual 1GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 280M GPUs are used. There is a long line-up of connections aboard this gamers’ paradise too - 4 USB ports, a USB/eSATA combo port, a Firewire port, a Displayport, a HDMI link, a VGA connection, an ExpressCard slot, an 8-in-1 card reader and audio sockets for 6.1 Dolby sound. Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity are offered by this machine. Face recognition is supported for security. With a thickness of 2.11” and a weight close to 5kg, this workstation is not very portable. However, since it is more of a multimedia and gaming laptop, you wouldn’t be traveling often with it. A 9-cell battery has been employed for power supply. A reasonably good battery life can thus be expected too. Coming to the price, the Alienware M17X Gaming Laptop costs $1800 in the USA. The UK price will be announced sometime soon.
Lenovo Ideapad S12 Netbook

Lenovo Ideapad 12″ S12 Netbook will be creating history! It is the first netbook to feature the NVIDIA’s Ion Platform. This is a combination of the Intel Atom processor and NVIDIA’s GeForce 9400M graphics on a single chipset, that promises a graphics and video performance boost. Full HD output can be achieved with this Ion platform. Moreover, gaming-wise too, a performance enhancement can be expected. NVIDIA claims that games like Call Of Duty 4, World Of Warcraft, Portal and the like can be played better on Ion netbooks. Ion powered netbooks belong to the Apple 13″ Netbook calibre.
The other technical details of this netbook are as follows – A 12.1” screen is sported which has a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. A 1GB DDR2 RAM and a 160GB hard drive will be present in this mobile computer. The OS that comes with this portable PC is Microsoft’s Windows XP Home. Wired ethernet and WiFi connections are both offered for internet access. Bluetooth compatibility is presented as well. The ports packed into this ultraportable laptop include 3 USB ports, an ExpressCard slot, a VGA connection, an RJ-45 socket(ethernet), a 4-in-1 card reader and an HDMI link. A 1.3 Megapixel web camera is integrated into this device as well. Some special utilities like VeriFace, Lenovo’s Quick Start and OneKey Rescue System will be featured in this ultramobile computer.
There is a choice between 3-cell and 6-cell batteries. While the 3-cell battery delivers a 3 hour runtime, the 6-cell battery provides almost 6 hours. Weighing just about 1.5kg, the Lenovo Ideapad S12 Ion Platform Netbook is a highly portable mobile workstation. The Ion platform based netbook will however ship in the US market. The European market will be getting an Ion-free Lenovo S12. Sigh! This Ion-free netbook might lack some of the features mentioned above. Sigh again! It might be priced approximately at about £300 and might be available for sale from August.
MSI GT725 Gaming Laptop

The red black combination of this mobile computer does look attractive. It packs in some powerful features that make it most suitable for multimedia and gaming.
The Toshiba Qosmio X300 features the Intel Centrino 2 processor technology with the Intel Core 2 Duo processor with a speed of 2.53GHz. More powerful and faster processors (Intel Core 2 Extreme 3.06GHz) are available too, for applications that require great processing speed. These models carry a heavier price tag as well. Asus W90VP-A1 Laptop is a hulk, not only in terms of size and weight, but also in its specifications and features. This multi-media laptop uses the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9000 2.0GHz processor for internal computations. There is a vast 6GB RAM sitting inside it too. This huge RAM also adds to the processing speed of this laptop. There are memory expansion slots in this laptop as well. Now hold your breath as the size of the hard drive is broken – it is a whole humongous 640GB! Phew! An optical read and write drive for DVDs is also present on board. This work-horse laptop comes pre-loaded with the Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium OS.
The 18.4” screen of this laptop offers a Full high definition resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. That’s the best resolution one can get for viewing pictures with pristine clarity. To add to the multi-media abilities, dual ATI Mobility Radeon HD4870 graphics cards have been employed. A whole 1GB memory has been reserved for graphics too.
