Acer Aspire One 751 Laptop

The latest in the ultraportable range from Acer is the Acer Aspire One 751 Netbook. It packs in almost all essentials required for portability, including a good battery life and a light weight.

Internally this small laptop has an Intel Atom Z520 processor executing the operations at a speed of 1.33GHz. A 1GB DDR2 SDRAM is also built into this device. This can be expanded to a maximum of 2GB as well. A 160GB hard drive is present in this mobile computer too. The Intel GMA 500 dynamic graphics processor has been incorporated into this ultra portable computer for taking care of graphics. The operating system that this netbook ships with is the Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition. An 11.6” 1366 x 768 pixels TFT LED backlit screen is sported. Stereo speakers with high definition audio are also present for producing the right sound effects.

The interfaces on board include 3 USB ports, a VGA output, a headphone socket, a microphone jack and an Ethernet connector. A 5-in-1 card reader is as well integrated into this workstation. A 0.3 Megapixel web camera is built into this cheapest laptop too. WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity are supported as well. The battery life is claimed to be 7 hours by Acer. Carrying a price tag of £370, the Acer Aspire One 751 11.6” Netbook is currently available in the UK market.

Samsung R620 Laptop

The latest laptop entrant into the entertainment arena is the Samsung R620 16” Laptop. Claimed to be one of the most lightest in this calibre, this multimedia laptop weighs just 2.75kg. Packed in with a whole world of exciting features, this laptop might just become an ideal mobile entertainer.

First of all, this new laptop employs an Intel Core 2 Duo processor for performing internal operations. Graphics is taken care of by the ATI Radeon HD4650 graphics card. A 4GB RAM and a 160GB hard drive come fitted into this device. Up to a 500GB capacity hard drive can be opted for too. The operating system that comes preloaded is the Windows Vista Home Premium. According to the general manager of Samsung Computer Systems Division, Philip Brown, this laptop is supposed to deliver the best high definition multimedia experience. It has a 16” 1366 x 768 pixels widescreen (aspect ratio 16:9) backlit LCD display for this purpose. WiFi, Ethernet connectivity and Bluetooth are all supported by this workstation.

Adding to its multimedia ability is a Blu Ray drive that comes integrated into it, an HDMI output for connecting to a HD television and many more interfaces. There are 4 USB ports, a USB and eSATA combination port, a 3-in-1 card reader, a web camera for video chatting and more on board this multimedia laptop. The keyboard also houses a separate numeric keypad on the right hand side. It is coated with an anti-bacterial film as well. The battery of this mobile PC is expected to deliver a 4.5 hour run time life.

The Samsung R620 Multimedia Laptop will be setting foot into the market very soon this month, carrying a price tag of £699.

Asus G60Vx Laptop

Asus’ new Asus G60Vx 16” Laptop is the new gaming portable PC from the company. A well designed device, it comes with a black body and white lid colour combination. A chiclet keyboard with back-light and well spaced keys is presented. There is sufficient space to include a numeric keypad as well. The track-pad looks wide too, and has a silver lining around it.

Asus G60Vx sports a 16” screen with a Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. This means pristine display clarity. Plunging into the technical specifications – this gaming laptop has an Intel Core 2 Quad processor (Q9000) working away at a clock speed of 2 GHz. A 4GB DDR3 RAM adds to processing speed. A hard drive of 1TB is also expected to be present. For graphics, an NVidia GeForce GTX 260M card with 1GB of dedicated memory is provided. The Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium OS has been employed as the software platform in this workstation.

There is a long list of connections on board this mobile computer too. 4 USB ports, a VGA output, an aerial input, an HDMI output, a mini Firewire port, a memory card reader, a USB/eSATA combo port, a 54mm ExpressCard slot, 3 audio jacks (a microphone and 2 headphones) and a Gigabit Ethernet port. A Blu Ray ROM drive is as well housed in this multimedia laptop.

The Asus G60Vx Gaming Laptop will most probably start shipping from July 2009 for a price of about £1500.

Acer Timeline Aspire 4810T Notebook

Acer’s new Acer Timeline Aspire 4810T 14” Notebook has been designed to meet your multimedia needs. The Intel Core 2 Duo SU9400 processor works tirelessly on the inside with a clock speed of 1.4GHz. It is an ultra low voltage CPU; thus saving the device power. Contributing positively to processing speed is the 4GB RAM. A whole ocean of space for storing all your media files and movies is provided by the 500GB hard drive of this mobile computer. Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium operating system has been employed as the software platform.

This portable computer sports a 14 inch display with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. Being a widescreen monitor, the pictures will fill the entire screen without having the upper and lower black bars that spoil the viewing experience. The glossy screen, though highly reflective, does present good colour and brightness levels.

The Acer Timeline Aspire 4810T has a read/write DVD drive built into it. Stereo speakers are present too. There is a VGA output and an HDMI output for connecting to other displays. Apart from these interfaces, there are also 3 USB ports, a 3.5mm headphone socket, a 3.5mm microphone socket, a 7-in-1 card reader, an Ethernet connector and a Kensington lock. WiFi and Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR are supported too. A web camera has also been packed into this machine.

The battery life of this workstation is an impressive 8+ hours. It weighs a little below 2kg. Hence, this device is reasonably good for portability as well. The Acer Timeline Aspire 4810T Multimedia Notebook is expected to be available by July 2009 and will ship with a price tag of about £750.

Fujitsu M2010 Netbook

Red and black colour combination for laptops has been a kind of mantra with many laptop manufacturers lately. And why not! This colour merge, gives the mobile computers a sporty attractive look. The Fujitsu M2010 10” Netbook is the new red and black combo netbook that was released earlier this month. Apart from these hues, there is a whitish curved design on the lid too.

Moving on to the technical features, this portable PC is internally powered by the Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz processor. A 1GB DDR2 RAM is integrated into this netbook. This can be expanded to a maximum of 2GB too. The hard drive has a capacity of 160GB. The Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition has been employed for the operating system. This mini laptop has a 10.1” 1024 x 575 pixels LED-back-lit screen. The Intel GMA 950 graphics has as well been integrated for handling videos and games.

The Fujitsu M2010 supports both WiFi (802.11 b/g) as well as Ethernet connectivity for internet access. Bluetooth wireless data transfer is supported too. A 4-in-1 card reader, 3 USB ports, a VGA connector, a headphone socket and a microphone jack are all present on-board this device. Stereo speakers have also been integrated into this small laptop. Even a 1.3 Megapixel web camera has been built into this mobile PC for video chatting.

Battery life of this portable PC is however slightly disappointing. Only about 2 hours of life is delivered by a 3-cell battery. The Fujitsu M2010 ultramobile Netbook has been mainly designed for multimedia usage. Good brightness levels and wide viewing angles are expected to be offered. It is priced at $449 in the US. A UK release has not yet been mentioned.

New Acer Laptops – Aspire AS5536, Aspire AS5739G and Aspire AS7735Z

Acer recently announced 3 new laptops – Acer Aspire AS5536, Acer Aspire AS5739G and Acer Aspire AS7735Z.

Acer Aspire AS5536 notebook sports a 15.6” widescreen (aspect ratio – 16:9) display with LED backlight and a high definition resolution. The AMD X2 QL-64 dual-core processor, which has a speed of 2.1GHz, has been employed. A 3GB DDR2 RAM and a 320GB hard drive are present in this mobile computer. Graphics is handled by the ATI Radeon HD 3200 chip. This notebook PC is equipped with Dolby Home Theatre audio too. A DVD super multi-drive is present as well. This multimedia laptop is packed in a Gemstone Blue case.

Acer Aspire AS5739G is also a 15.6” notebook, which has a 1366 x 768 pixels LED back-lit widescreen display. The processor used in this notebook has the same clock speed of 2.1GHz. However, instead of the AMD processor, the Intel Core 2 Duo T6500 processor is used in this portable PC. A 4GB DDR3 RAM has been incorporated in this laptop. A larger RAM means that the Acer Aspire AS5739G is faster than the Acer Aspire AS5536. The nVidia GeForce GT130M graphics card takes care of motion pictures and gaming. The hard drive capacity is 250GB. This laptop comes fitted with the Dolby Home Theater surround sound system as well. Even a Blu Ray/DVD drive is packed into this multimedia device.

Acer Aspire AS7735Z is the largest among the trio. It features a 17.3” high definition LED back-lit screen. The Intel Pentium T4200 2.0GHz processor handles internal functionality. A 4GB DDR3 RAM and a 250GB hard drive are built into this laptop. The Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics has been integrated for graphics and videos. The Dolby Home Theatre audio is also part of this multimedia workstation.

All 3 laptops are WiFi capable(802.11n). They all ship with Windows Vista Home Premium OS. Multi-touch track pads are present in these devices too. The Acer Aspire AS5536 is priced at $480 (=£295); the Acer Aspire AS5739G costs $750 (=£375); and the Acer Aspire AS7735Z carries a price tag of $600 (=£370) in the US. A UK release has not yet been mentioned.

Novatech X90 GTX 280 Clevo Laptop

Novatech X90 GTX 280 Clevo 17″ Laptop is the new gaming and multimedia mobile computer on the block. It was initially announced at CeBIT, held in March 2009. A powerful feature set, makes it a real hulk in the market.

This Novatech X90 Clevo laptop ships in 2 configurations: the X90 GTX and X90 GTX Pro. The major differences between these 2 configurations are the X90 GTX incorporates an Intel Core i7 920 Quad Core processor which has a clock speed of 4 x 2.66GHz. On the other hand the X90 GTX Pro employs the Intel Core i7 940 Quad Core processor, which clocks at 4 x 2.93GHz. Moreover, the X90 GTX comes with three 500GB hard drives, while the X90 GTX Pro has three 64GB solid state drives. Hence X90 GTX Pro is a faster and costlier machine than the X90 GTX.

All other features remain the same. The X90 Clevo has a 4GB DDR3 RAM. A Blu Ray/DVD read write drive has also been integrated into this device. The Nvidia GTX280 graphics with a dedicated 1GB of DDR3 memory ensure that supreme quality and really fast graphics is delivered. Either Windows XP or Windows Vista can be chosen to run as the platform. A 17 inch screen which sports a Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels is also featured.

A long line-up of connections and ports are built into this work-station as well. There are 4 USB 2.0 ports, a FireWire port, a mini PCI slot, an ExpressCard slot, an S-Video output, an Ethernet connector, a DVI-D port, a VGA port, microphone and headphone jacks. There are 2 DDR2 SO-DIMM slots too. WiFi, Ethernet connection and Bluetooth are all supported by this workhorse also. A 2 Megapixel camera is as well integrated into this device for video chatting. Usually laptops come with not more than 1.3MP cameras.

The Novatech X90 Clevo Multimedia and Gaming Laptop is a heavy beast, with a weight of 5.4 kg. Therefore it is not very portable. You can sit in your den and spend your leisure playing your favourite games or watching the flicks. The X90 GTX carries a price tag of £2356.35 while the X90 GTX Pro is priced at around £2643.85.

Toshiba NB205 Netbook

Toshiba NB205 10″ Netbook is an ultra-portable computer, for various reasons. First of all, it weighs just 1.3kg. Secondly, it offers a good set of specifications that can make mobile computing convenient. And the third and most appreciative is the 8.5 hour long battery life. Moreover, this is an affordable netbook too.

The Intel Atom N280 1.66 GHz processor performs the internal program execution. A 1GB RAM and a 160GB hard drive are integrated into this ultramobile PC. The RAM can be extended up to 2GB as well. Toshiba NB205 ships with the Microsoft Windows XP Home Operating System.

On the display front, this mini laptop has a 10.1” 1024 x 600 pixels screen. The Intel GMA 950 has been integrated for handling motion pictures. Networking aspects include support for WiFi as well as Ethernet connectivity. Bluetooth support is offered too. There are also 3 USB ports, a headphone jack, a microphone jack, a VGA connector and a 3-in-1 card reader.

The keyboard seems well designed with spaces between keys. The track-pad too looks big enough for comfortable usage. A 0.3 Megapixel web camera is present as well. 2 stereo speakers have also been packed into the Toshiba NB205.

This workstation is expected to be available in 2 configurations – one with a chiclet keyboard, metallic finish which will adorn 4 garbs – Indigo Blue, Sable Brown, Posh Pink and Frost White. The second with a flat keyboard and a black matte finish. The former will be a little more expensive than the latter. Overall the price of Toshiba NB205 Ultra-portable Netbook would range from £260 to £300.

Samsung N310 Netbook

Samsung N310 10″ Netbook seems like an experiment with shape by the laptop making company. It has rounded edges. But nonetheless, it is not at all an ugly duckling. On the features-front, it is a normal netbook, with the regular offerings. Recently, Samsung also showed off this mini laptop at Computex 2009, held in Taiwan.

A 10.1” 1024 x 600 pixels LCD screen is sported by this ultraportable PC. The Intel Atom N270 processor powers up this device from the inside. The clock speed of this processor is 1.6GHz. Graphics is handled by the integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950. The operating system employed is the Microsoft Windows XP Home. A 1GB RAM and a 160GB hard drive have been integrated into this mini workstation.

This mobile computer supports both WiFi as well as Ethernet connectivity. The ports and interfaces included in this model are a VGA port, 3 USB ports, a headphone jack and a microphone jack. There is a 3-in-1 card reader integrated for memory expansion as well. For video chatting, a 1.3 Megapixel camera is as well built into this device.

The keyboard has an ergonomic layout, and the track-pad is big enough too. Weighing just 1.23kg, the Samsung N310 Mini Laptop is highly ultramobile. Moreover a battery life of 5 hours is promised, which seems quite reasonable as well. Priced at about £356, it is highly affordable too.

Disney Netpal Netbooks From Asus

“All work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy!” So Disney and Asus decided to help Jack with their joint venture laptop – the Disney Netpal Netbook. Jack will soon watch Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and other Disney characters dance on his netbook screen. Be it his school work or playing games, he can do it both on the 8.9” 1024 × 600 pixels LCD screen of this mini laptop. Jack’s parents can relax as well, with the mini workstation offering about 40 parental control options. They can even control the websites that little Jack can visit or set filter options for emails too.

Not just Jack, this netbook has been designed for all kids between the age group of 6 and 12. It offers many cool customisable features, that can be quite fascinating. The desktop can be customised with a variety of themes which include popular Disney’s animated characters. The lid itself comes in 2 colour schemes – Mickey Mouse themed Magic Blue and a floral Princess Pink. Shock protection features are present, to protect the device from shocks and jerks.

The underlying Windows XP OS platform has a kids-friendly user interface on the top. Almost all aspects have a Disney touch to them. The browser, sites, email editor, menus, widgets, trays and more are all Disney themed. The other technical specifications include an Intel Atom (N270) processor, WiFi, 1GB RAM, a choice between 160GB of hard drive or 16GB of solid state drive. A VGA port, 3 USB ports, a headphone socket, a microphone socket and an Ethernet connection are all packed in this mobile PC. An MMC and SD card reader is housed as well. A 0.3 Megapixel camera has been integrated into this portable computer too.

The Asus Disney Netpal Netbook will be selling from July for a price of $349.99. A UK release has not yet been heard of.
