Mesh Computers have just taken their first few steps into the laptop world. Yet they have managed to put their fingers in all the pies, making mobile computers ranging from 10” netbooks to 18” workhorses. They call this range - the Edge line of laptops. Mesh Edge Q900 Xtreme Laptop is their new 18.4” laptop which has been designed for multimedia and gaming.
Most multimedia laptops come with a Full HD screen. So does this one too. Apart from crisp and clear visuals, most games also require a powerful processor. This laptop has been equipped with the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9000 processor with a clock speed of 2GHz, for this purpose. Apart from the processor, the graphics processor also plays an important role in providing a good multimedia/gaming experience. The Nvidia GeForce with CUDA GTX280 graphics with 1GB dedicated memory, handle all motion pictures in this device.
A 4GB RAM has been built in. Ample storage space with a 320GB hard drive is offered as well. Adding extra flavour to the pudding is the Blu Ray drive built into this laptop. The operating system that this machine ships with is Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium. Stunning visuals must be accompanied by equally good sounds. Full duplex speakers with Intel High Definition audio and 3D effect are incorporated in this multimedia workstation.
An ideal gaming laptop must provide compatibility with a variety of other devices. For this purpose, the Q900 Xtreme has been packed with 4 USB ports, an HDMI output, a VGA connector, a headphone jack and a microphone jack. WiFi and Ethernet connectivity are both supported for connecting to the internet. Wireless Bluetooth data exchange is possible too. The Mesh Edge Q900 Xtreme Multimedia Laptop offers a battery life of about 2 hours. The weight of this device is about 5.6kg which makes it more of a desktop replacement than a portable laptop. It carries a price tag of about £1999 currently.

MESH Mini 9010 Netbook is one of the new Edge line of laptops manufactured by the UK PC maker - Mesh Computers. A 10-inch TFT display with widescreen capability is sported. The resolution of this screen is 1024 x 600 pixels. The Intel Atom processor with a clock speed of 1.6GHz performs the internal processing in this device. The maximum RAM supported in this mobile computer is 2GB. A 160GB hard drive is fitted into this portable PC. Memory expansion can be achieved too, with the multi-format memory card reader. The Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition is used as the operating system in this device.
There are 3D stereo sound speakers with Intel HD audio, integrated into this netbook. A 1.3 Megapixel web camera has been packed into this small laptop for video calls. For internet connectivity, you can either use the wired Ethernet connection or WiFi in hotspots.
The Mesh Mini 9010 10” Netbook houses 3 USB ports for information exchange with other compatible devices. A VGA port for connecting to an external monitor is present too. Microphone and headphone jacks have been provided as well. With a weight of about 1.25kg, you can easily carry this ultra-portable computer around for mobile computation. The £299 price of this device puts it among the affordable range of netbooks, setting competition for Acer and Asus from whom Mesh initially sold laptops.
