“Silicon valley is the Florence of the late twentieth century” and Francis Fukayama seems to appear almost like a soothsayer in terms of his belief. Ultimate innovations of Silicon Valley are backed on a never ending line. Dell Inspiron Mini 12 Netbook is one such innovation to figure out the worthiness of its back up. This laptop in league with its brothers is designed to expand the personalization options.
Dell Inspiron Mini 12 Notebook comes integrated with Intel Atom Z530 Processor, which along with its 512 KB L2 Cache is involved in the power processing of this notebook at a clock speed of 1.60GHz. Dell recommends Windows Vista Home Basic as the operating system to be installed in this laptop.
The motherboard of this device includes Intel US15W chipset, Intel Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator 500 along with the DDR2 SDRAM, which has a storage capacity of1 GB and a clockspeed of 533 MHz. The storage capacity of this Netbook is emphasised by the 80 GB hard drive of 4200 rpm.
Dell Inspiron Mini 12 Ultra Portable Laptop features Integrated 10/100 LAN, 3 USB 2.0, VGA, Audio jacks and a 3-in-1 Card Reader. The 802.11g Wi-Fi feature enables this device with wireless networking. Bluetooth 2.0+ EDR is enabled in this device, which permits wireless data transfer among similar featured devices.
This laptop comes with a 12.1” glossy screen which would mesmerize you with its XGA display of 1280X800 MP resolution. The chassis of this gadget is fitted with a external speaker for the audio display. A standard webcam of 1.3 MP resolution is integrated in this laptop, which lets you to make VoiP calls and also indulge in live chatting.
Dell Inspiron Mini 12 Ultra Thin laptop measures about 299mm in Width, 23.31mm in Height, 229mm in Depth and 1.23 kg in weight. This machine is run by a 3 celled Li-Ion Battery and the run time is a splendid 3 hours.

This is an excellent machine, or at least has the possibility of becoming one. Unfortuantely, Dell severely crippled it with a maximum of 1 GB of memory (impossible to upgrade because the chipset only recognizes 1 GB max) and Vista, which is too slow on this set-up. Once you add anti-virus, this netbook crawls.
Wait for a better processor, and lord help us, more ram allowance.
