32-bit 64-bit Operating System?

To find out whether your laptop/ computer is running a 32 bit or a 64 bit operating system, do the following:-
For Windows XP:-

Step
1Click on Start. Right click on My Computer. Click on Properties OR Click on Start > Run. Type sysdm.cpl and then click OK.

2In the General tab, under the System heading, you’ll see the following (refer figure below):-
Microsoft Windows XP “edition” Version “year” – indicates 32 bit OS
Microsoft Windows XP “edition” x64 Edition Version “year” – indicates 64 bit OS

This method should work for most of the previous versions and other editions of the Windows operating systems as well.
For Windows Vista:-

1Click on Start.

2In the search box, type system As soon as you type this, a list of Programs are displayed in the menu. Click on System under Programs (refer figure below). Details about the System will be displayed in the window that appears. Look at what is displayed as the System Type.
System Type: 32-bit Operating System – for a 32 bit OS
System Type: 64-bit Operating System – for a 64 bit OS

そしてサブPCに入っているVista…64bit版にしておけばよかったなぁ。OSが64bitのものに置き換えられていくのはわかりきってた事なのに、Vistaの評判と保守的な自分の考えが32bit版を選ばせてしまった。
利用しているOSが64bitなので、iTunes 10.1.1 for Windows (64-bit)を選択したんだけど、そもそも64bitOSの場合、強制的にこれが選ばれているはず。なのに、32bit版と選択できたこと自体がおかしい。
