Posted on January 19, 2009
Snaresbrook: British singer Boy George, 47, faces a sentence of fifteen months imprisonment issued by the Snarebrook Crown Court for falsely detaining a male escort in his east London flat. The singer, who has his real name as George O’Dowd has denied the charge, and alleged that the victim, Audun Carlsen of Norway had snitched images from his laptop when they met three months earlier. However, he admitted chaining Carlsen to a wall, in order to retrieve the missing photos.
Judge David Radford said that Carlsen was deprived of dignity, as well as his liberty without being served a proper explanation of its length,
purpose or purported justification, although his physical injuries were neither permanent nor serious. He also told O’Dowd that he had commited an act of gratuitous violence.
The vocalist, renowned for Karma Chameleon, his hit stuff of the 80s, has struggled in the past with drug addiction. Currently, he is a DJ. After the sentencing, Steven Barker, the solicitor of O’Dowd said that he sincerely hoped this sentence would not knock him back from his road to recovery.

What do you mean? you talked to George!?
