BT recently announced their new service called BT Infinity which promises to offer broadband speeds of up to 40Mbps! This uses the fibre-optic technology.
The BT Infinity package involves 2 options, both involving 18-month contracts. The 1st option involves a connection charge of £50, and monthly rental of £19.99. The download speed claimed is 40Mbps and the upload speed quoted is 2Mbps. The data allowance per month is 20GB and there’s 250 minutes of WiFi usage as well. The BT home hub comes in for free for using more than one laptop or computer at home. The 2nd option has the connection coming for free with a per month charge of £24.99. The download speed expected is 40Mbps, while the upload speed is said to be 10Mbps. There is unlimited data download and WiFi minutes using the Openzone service. The BT home hub comes in for free with this connection as well.
The BT Infinity will be useful for those people who watch plenty of videos online, especially high definition ones. The service promises to offer high quality media streaming. With this connection, iTunes downloading is claimed to be 7 times faster. Even playing games online is said to be 30% speedier. For homes having more than one laptop/computer connecting to the internet simultaneously, this service can be beneficial.
