Contract Laptop Maker set record in shipments and revenue

A high levels of record of dispatches and revenue has been set for a single month by the world’s biggest contract laptop manufacturer. In spite of the downturn of the economic conditions on the PC industry, there has been a continuing demand for laptops that has set the record numbers in June, according to Taiwan based Quanta computer.

Dell, Sony and Hewlett-Packard being the clients of Quanta Computer have made shipment of 4.8 million notebooks in June taking the revenue to more than £2 billion. The previous monthly record of June was 4.5 billion notebook PCs bringing the revenue to more than £1.9 billion.

Several factors has been explained by Quanta. The customers may have placed orders a month earlier than expected while the shortage of some components also helped. One of the shortages has been the scarcity of Intel Arrandale laptop microprocessors such as the Core i5 and i3 that allow PC manufacturers to design thinner laptops. Intel has increased the production to meet the demand and seems to be successful partially.
