Early Birds Have Got the iPad UK

The latest member of Apple’s slick and charming product-family, the Apple iPad UK has just gone on sale. UK Apple Stores have had long lines of customers waiting to get their hands on the coveted tablet. The Telegraph has reported that in some of the Apple Stores, people had already queued up through the night to get the tablet, which was to be given on a “first come first serve” basis. They had pre-ordered the device earlier this month.

The earliest birds are rejoicing with the new gadget as they walk out of the store amidst the cheering and applause of the Apple staff. However, those who delayed in the pre-ordering will not be receiving the device today. They will have to wait until June. Even the exact dates have not yet been made known. The postpone has been attributed to the huge demand for the gadget, which has probably shot past Apple’s estimations.

Another interesting news that’s making rounds is that the iPad will be available with other retailers and resellers as well. PC World and Currys are on the list. There supposedly are other resellers too, but they are yet to be listed.

When the iPad went on sale in the US, it had issues regarding detection and strength of WiFi signals. We wonder how the device is faring in the hands of the UK users!

Guardian is offering a free iPad, (the WiFi only 16GB model)  to the winner of their lucky draw. This is being done to celebrate the availability of their Eyewitness app on the tablet.
