Intel Have Launched The Pine Trail Platform

Intel recently launched their first CPU of the Pine Trail family – The Intel Atom N450 + N11. The entire combination consists of the processor, an integrated memory controller & an integrated graphics processor, the GMA 3150.

NotebookCheck reports that this chipset does not actually bring about some revolutionary features in the netbook. Even the performance is said to be quite the same as the previous Atom processor. The major change however, is in the power consumption and size. The entire chipset is said to be less power consuming (estimated as 20% lesser) and much smaller in size (almost 60% smaller), when compared to the Intel atom N280 processor and GMA 950 GPU combination.

Thus netbooks can now be smaller than what they were and they can also deliver longer battery lives.
