Intel Launches Classmate Laptop in the UK, Targets Schools

London: Although, Intel Classmate PC was originally planned for being marketed in developing nations, an enhanced version of it, is all set to hit UK markets this February. Intel would be targeting individual customers, as well as educational institutions with its new launch. This tablet laptop that enables children to draw and write more naturally, can be well converted into a conventional laptop.

An Atom CPU is expected to process this laptop that comes backed by 1GB of RAM. The hard drive of this device would possess the memory of 60GB. Other significant aspects of this laptop PC are; an inbuilt card reader, and an 8.9” LCD display detailed by a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels.

Intel’s deputy general manager for Europe, Gordon Graylish states that the researches conducted by them across both developed and developing world revealed that human beings, especially if they are of five years of age, were found quiet alike with similar needs. He added that it did not matter if the children are in the US, France, Mali or Vietnam.

The UK consumers can expect the re-designed Classmate made by NEC, with a price tag of GBP359 through Argos and Amazon. However, the schools would be availed this product at a reduced cost of GBP260 per unit, according to Intel sources.
