Intel’s New Line Of Processors – Intel Core i7 Processors

Intel Core i7 Processors - LaptopReviews.org.ukIntel announced their new line of processors, the Intel Core i7 range, at the Intel Developer Forum, held recently in San Francisco. These processors employ the 64-bit architecture and use multiple cores, thus bringing about high speeds of processing. Intel describe this range of processors as an “incredible breakthrough” in PC performance. And why not! These processors promise to deliver high speeds of processing and multi-tasking capability, to meet the needs of intense speed games and multi-threaded applications.

What’s new in these processors?
Intel Turbo Boost Technology – This technology works in boosting up processing speed (clock rate) by almost 75%.

Intel Hyper-Threading Technology – Applications that branch out into several threads, running simultaneously, can be taken care of by these processors. Currently, processors do handle multi-threading. However, this slows down their overall processing speed. But, with the advent of the Core i7 processors, multi-tasking is made faster.

Intel Smart Cache – A more efficient cache for handling multi-threaded applications and games.

Intel Quickpath Interconnect – Data movement between the processor and other components, is made faster by providing an increased bandwidth. Speeds up to 25.6GB/sec are claimed to be achieved.

Intel HD Boost – Multimedia performance is improved with this technology.

Creating and editing digital media, like videos, music, photographs is all made fast (almost 81% faster). Even artificial intelligence games can be played at a 31% higher speed. Presently, the processors that have been developed offer clock rates of 3.06GHz, 2.93GHz and 2.66GHz. Laptops like Asus M60J, Asus G60J, Asus G51J, Toshiba Qosmio X500 are some of the laptops that will feature these Intel processors.

The Intel Core i7 processors definitely seem to become a part of future high speed gaming laptops. Even computers that will run demanding applications for industries can benefit by these processors. Game developers and others in the creative realm, like designers, can take advantage of the features of these processors.
