Lenovo Skylight Smartbook

It is neither a smartphone or a netbook. Let’s just say, a netbook and a smartphone exchanged marriage vows a while ago, and a son was born to them. He was called the smartbook. He had inherited the netbook’s physical structure, though slightly smaller and thinner, and the smartphone’s brains. And it looks like smartbooks are going to be the next big things in both the laptop and the mobile phone worlds.
Lenovo Skylight Smartbook is the talk of the town currently. It is a 10″ screen device which is driven by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 1GHz processor, unlike netbooks that usually employ Intel Atom processors. Again, a proprietary OS is pre-loaded in this gadget, instead of Windows 7. This smartbook is capable of playing 720p HD videos. The display presents a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.
Memory-wise, the Lenovo Skylight has 20GB of flash memory on board. It also supports miniSD cards. Apart from these offers 2GB of cloud storage or online storage too. On the networking front, you’ll get WiFi and 3G ability as well. The device is said to be available with AT&T for a 2-year contract, which entitles consumers to use their 3G network for mobile broadband and their WiFi hotspots. There are 2 USB ports and a 1.3MP video calls camera housed in this mini netbook too.
Overall, the Lenovo Skylight Smartbook weighs less than a kg. Currently, nothing has been revealed about a UK release. In the US, this device is priced at $499 (~GBP 281) and will start shipping in April, in blue and red colours.
Some time back, there was mention of an Asus EEE PC Smartbook which was supposed to feature a Snapdragon processor as well. However, there has been no news about this smartbook since.
