Posted on September 7, 2010
Graphics chip maker, NVIDIA recently announced their new line of graphics processors, the GeForce 400M Series. There are a total of 7 GPUs in this line, at present. These are categorised into 2 – for the enthusiasts and for performance. While the GTX 460M and 470M processors belong to the former, the GT 445M, GT 435M, GT 425M, GT 420M and GT 415M belong to the latter category.
This series of NVIDIA graphics processors is based on the native Fermi architecture. This architecture is supposed to deliver super-computing features and NVIDIA says it is the “most advanced GPU computing architecture ever built”. The graphics company also mentions that this platform is designed to focus on optimum performance, and hence offer optimum usage of battery.
Some of the features of the NVIDIA GeForce 400M processors are:-
- Support Microsoft DirectX 11 APIs which will give the laptop the ability to play all kinds of games.
- Support for 3D Vision technology , which will enable playing 3D content.
- Support for PhysX, CUDA and Nvidia Verde.
One thing to be noted is that the laptops that will incorporate this technology, must have 120Hz LCD screens.
High-end gaming-and-entertainment oriented laptops, integrated with this new technology, will soon start shipping into the markets. What prices they’ll sport, remain to be seen.

I really love it. China has really deserved to rule the world.
