Sony have given an environment friendly makeover to their Sony Vaio W Netbook. Recycled plastics, like CDs are used in making the case. Mentioning figures, it is about 23% recycled CDs. This is also supposed to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 10%. The “green movement” netbook comes with a carry-bag made of recycled PET bottles as well.
This new edition of the Sony Vaio W series netbook is equipped with the new Intel Atom N450 processor. Therefore, we can assume that this eco-friendly version of the netbook will offer a longer life than the original one (supposedly 8.5 hours). A 10″ screen with high definition resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels is sported. This netbook is based on Windows 7 and comes with a 1GB RAM, a 250GB hard drive, WiFi, Bluetooth, a web camera.
The laptop is draped in a white hue with a greenish tinge on the inside. It is said to be available in February this year. The pricing has not yet been revealed. However, in the US it is available for pre-order for a price of $480.
