Windows 7 OS Releases With a Big Bang!

The much awaited Microsoft Windows 7 operating system was finally launched yesterday, worldwide. Even before its release, the new OS had attracted the attention of quite many among the consumer crowd. Compared to the previous Microsoft OSs, like Windows Vista and Windows XP, the new was supposed to be a better performer.

The UK retailer, Amazon had a pre-order explosion for the new operating system. The number of pre-orders that were had for Windows Vista during its pre-release stage was beaten by Windows 7 during the first 8 hours when it was announced for advance order. Moreover, the pre-order sales of the popular Nintendo Wii and the latest Harry Potter too, were left behind by Windows 7, reports Metro.

To commemorate the release of the latest Microsoft OS, Burger King in Japan, made a 7-patty Whopper burger. This Windows 7 Whopper costed 777 yen, which approximates to £5. Though the idea sounds yummy, people did have a tough time holding and eating the burger. Well let’s hope that this will not be the case with the new software platform.

Plenty of laptops and netbooks featuring Windows 7 were launched by retailers like PC World in the UK yesterday as well.

Another piece of exciting news that’s been buzzing around is about telecom companies planning to offer netbooks with Windows 7 OS along with their call-plans for Christmas.

So we wish Windows 7 OS the best to meet up with all the expectations that it created.

I find this very interesting! I personally use Ubuntu Linux as my primary operating system, for the main reason that i got really irritated with the instability of windows, and being expected to pay large amounts of money for operating systems.

Interestingly enough, more and more of my friends have expressed interest in trying out Ubuntu, also because of windows being a pain. It should be noted that i am an engineering student.

The only issue that i have with your graph is that i would have assumed, as you said, that there would be a much larger fallout of microsoft operating systems. If windows 7 is not all its made out to be, microsoft may very well see the end of their near-monopoly.
