Windows 7 Might Make Windows XP Obsolete For Netbooks by Next Year?

November 16, 2009

windows-os - LaptopReviews.org.ukThough it has been just above 3 weeks since the release of the Microsoft Windows 7 OS, the 7th generation operating system of the Windows maker is already running on 4% of the world’s computers. Notebookcheck mentions that it had taken Windows Vista about 5 months to reach this target.

Currently, majority of the computers and laptops, worldwide are based on Windows XP. This has been estimated to about 70%. Therefore Windows 7 does have a lot of catching up to do.

However, there are reports that Microsoft is planning to offer Windows XP for netbooks only for one more year. They hope that customers will adopt Windows 7 henceforth. Windows 7 is supposed to offer greater value than XP. The new OS is supposed to have overcome the shortcomings of Windows Vista as well. Issues like incompatibilities, crashes, memory usage and others are supposed to have been addressed in the Windows 7 OS.
