Lenovo Ideapad S10-2 Netbook

Dressed in purple or in black, sometimes in white or even grey, the Lenovo Ideapad S10-2 10” Netbook, the sequel to the Lenovo Ideapad S10 will soon be available in the UK market (by the end of July 2009) for a price starting from £300. It packs in all the features that come with most other netbooks in the market these days.

Internal processing is handled by an Intel Atom N270 processor which clocks at a speed of 1.6GHz. The RAM has a capacity of 1GB, and can be upgraded up to 2GB as well. A 160GB hard drive is also present in this netbook. A 10” 1024 x 600 pixels screen is sported. The graphics is taken care of by the Intel 945GSE graphics card. The operating system employed is the Microsoft Windows XP Home Premium. There is a Quick Start feature that lets the OS start up fast.

WiFi as well as Ethernet connectivity are supported for connecting to the internet. The other interfaces that are built into this mobile computer are: 3 USB ports, a VGA output, an Ethernet connector, a headphone jack, a microphone jack, a Kensington lock and a 4-in-1 card reader. However, the flexible ExpressCard slot, which was seen in the Lenovo Ideapad S10, has been absented in this model.

The Lenovo Ideapad S10-2 ultramobile Netbook is a thinner and lighter book than its predecessor (S10). It lacks Bluetooth also. The keyboard is larger with bigger keys and a wider track-pad. Hence, it is more ergonomic too. There is a 2 Megapixel camera on board for video calling. Face recognition is provided as well for security purposes. The battery of this portable PC gives a life of about 5 hours.
