MSI Wind U123 Netbook

MSI are one of the first mobile PC manufacturers to come out with 10” netbooks. They have created magic with their portable computers, some of which were displayed by MSI at CeBIT 2009, Hannover in Germany. The MSI Wind U123 10″ Netbook is their latest 10 inch netbook to be announced. This netbook will be hitting stores very soon.

Throwing a glance at the specifications of this mini laptop – The Intel Atom N280 Processor which has a speed of 1.66GHz has been incorporated for internal processing. The Intel 945GSE + ICH7M chipset has also been employed. The operating system that is compatible with this netbook is the Genuine Windows XP Home edition. Graphics is handled by the Intel UMA 950 graphics media accelerator. The RAM that this netbook supports has a capacity of 1GB. A memory slot has also been provided for expanding memory. The hard drive has a storage space of 160GB. The screen of this small laptop measures 10.2” diagonally and has a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels.

This netbook supports wired networking as well as WiFi connectivity to enable connecting to the internet. It is Bluetooth v2.0 capable as well. A 1.3 Megapixel camera has also been integrated into this mobile PC. The other connections that this portable computer ships with are as follows:-

  • A 4-in-1 card reader which supports SD, XD, MMC and memory sticks
  • 3 USB 2.0 ports
  • A D-Sub connection
  • A headphone jack
  • A microphone jack
  • An RJ-45 socket
  • A TV antenna connector

There are 2 speakers built into this cheap laptop as well. The overall dimensions of this device are – 26cm by 18cm by 1cm-3.3cm. The unit weighs 1.35kg. A 6-cell battery has been employed for power supply. You can also opt for a 9-cell battery for extending the runtime. The MSI Wind U123 1.3 MP Camera Netbook is expected to flaunt attractive red, blue, grey and white attires.

    I mean, netbooks will keep existing but? not as much as a Samsung Galaxy, iPad, or Playbook. Besides there are pretty light laptops that are powerful enough to cover the necessities of a common consumer, eliminating the netbook obviously as a choice.
