OCZ Neutrino Netbook
Posted on April 3, 2009
OCZ has thrown the ball in the court of consumers, giving them the opportunity to create their own netbooks with the OCZ Neutrino 10” Netbook. This ‘Do It Yourself’ netbook aims at giving users a great level of customisation to suit their needs. Being highly portable, it makes a good mobile computing device too.
The Intel Atom N270 processor which has a speed of 1.6GHz, has been employed to handle internal processing. Intel 945 GSE Graphics along with DirectX 9-class graphics core has also been integrated into this netbook. A 10.1 inch LED back-lit screen which has a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels, is featured as well. There is a 1.3 Megapixel web-camera built into this mobile computer too. A microphone has also been integrated into this device. On the networking front, this portable PC supports WiFi 802.11b/g standard, that allows connecting to the internet in WiFi hotspots. Wired networking is supported as well. The other connections that are offered are – 2 USB v2.0 ports, a PCI express slot and a VGA output. In case the native resolution is insufficient for viewing certain high definition displays, this VGA port can be linked to external displays with higher resolutions, the maximum being 1600 x 1200 pixels.
The customisation is presented in attributes like memory, storage, OS and card reader. A DDR2 RAM up to 2GB is supported. For hard drives, a maximum capacity of 250GB and a speed of 5400rpm is allowed. Solid State drives can have storage spaces ranging from 30GB to 250GB. A 4-in-1 card reader can be opted for too, if required.
A 4-cell battery is incorporated for powering up the unit. The highly customisable, ultra-portable and affordable OCZ DIY Neutrino Netbook is expected to hit stores sometime in April 2009.

Based on the Intel Atom processor, the 10.1" Neutrino was developed to push the envelope in the growing area of netbooks as the first DIY offering.
