Sony Vaio Laptops are known for their stylish designs as well as their high costs. The Sony Vaio VGN-NS30 Laptop is the latest in the 15” screen category. One has to admit that this is a well constructed laptop, with a sturdy silver and black chassis. Supplementing the look and feel of the outside is the ergonomic keyboard inside. The keys are well spaced and there are buttons for volume control and muting. Though this laptop can score well on the technology front too, its heavy price of £550 still feels unreasonable.
The CPU consists of the Intel Core 2 Duo 2GHz T4200 processor. The RAM has a capacity of 3GB. A 250GB hard drive is also packed into this cheap laptop. An optical DVD drive is as well present. As mentioned earlier this device is a 15.4” widescreen display laptop, with Sony’s TruBrite technology. It presents a high definition resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. Microsoft Windows Vista operating system comes pre-installed in the laptop.
Internet connectivity can be achieved either using the wired Ethernet connection or in a hotspot with WiFi. Bluetooth is lacked from the model. A number of interfaces for external connectivity or expansion are present as well. These include 4 USB ports, a mini Firewire port, a 34mm ExpressCard slot, an Ethernet connector, an SD card reader, a Sony memory stick, a headphone jack, a microphone jack and a VGA output. A 1.3 Megapixel web camera is housed in this workstation too. The battery life of the Sony Vaio VGN-NS30E/S 15.4” Laptop is impressive with a runtime of close to 5 hours. This laptop is very similar to the Sony Vaio VGN-NS20 Laptop (which costs about £479) in specifications and features, except for a longer battery life.
Laptops like HP Compaq 6735s Laptop and Fujitsu LifeBook A6120 Laptop are similar sized laptops which are more affordable.
