The Kohjinsha SC3 7” UMPC was one of those tablet PCs that stole away the hearts of many reviewers, for all the features and specifications that it offered. Kohjinsha is out with a new netbook, the Kohjinsha SX3 8.9” Netbook, to recreate the magic of the predecessor. This new convertible netbook is very similar in structure, design and specifications to the previous ultra-portable PC. The main differences being the screen size, inclusion of an optical drive, dual cameras and longer battery life. This netbook has an 8.9” touch screen with a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels.
Other technical aspects have been inherited directly from the Kohjinsha SC3. The new mini-laptop also comes with the Intel Atom N520 1.33GHz processor, Windows Vista Home Premium OS, 1GB RAM and 60 GB hard drive. The networking options are similar too, with support for WiFi as well as wired ethernet connectivity. Bluetooth capability is also present. One important feature that was seen with Kohjinsha SC3 – the in-built GPS receiver, has been absented from the Kohjinsha SX3. The other connections are almost the same, with 2 USB 2.0 ports, a VGA connection, a 3-in-1 card slot, an
Expresscard/34 slot, headphone and microphone jacks.
There are 2 cameras aboard this small notebook – one with 1.3 Megapixel resolution and the other with 0.35 Megapixel resolution. The 1Seg TV Tuner has found its way into this version of the Kohjinsha netbook too. However, this tuner is expected to work in Japan only. On the measurements front, this ultra-mobile PC measures 233mm by 191mm by 22-33mm and weighs 1.25kg. With professional and attractive looks, the Kohjinsha SX3 Touchscreen Convertible Netbook can definitely impress you at first sight.
